CEA – it’s time to start planning. For those who don’t know what it is, CEA or Career Educators of America is an annual conference for educators, developed by educators. It is a 3-day training event for educators in the beauty and wellness industry.
3-days of continuing education on teaching methodology,
motivation, inspiration, technology and more from some of the greatest educators in the industry. There are
industry vendors and the opportunity to network with over 200 educators from the industry.
This year, CEA will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary! It is scheduled for June 22nd – 25th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
You may wonder why am I sharing this news in January if the
conference isn’t until June? We there are a few reasons.
Planning Now! Don’t wait until the last minute to try and attend, make it a goal and figure out a way to get there. Talk to your school owners and directors and see if there is a way to work together and get your entire team there. You won’t regret it. Don’t miss this one. It is going to be special.

Each year, Milady partners with the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) to award the Educator of the Year to one educator who has exhibited the most significant contribution towards educational excellence. Lisha Barnes is a Cosmetology/Barber Instructor with over 25 years of experience. She started out in a small private school working in Admissions, Financial Aid, Education, and School Director. She was a Director of Education for a chain of Private Cosmetology schools. Currently she serves as the Academic Development Manager for Milady where she supports schools and educators around the nation with continuing education, curriculum development and product knowledge. Lisha has served as an Educator for Milady’s Career Institute; NACCAS Commission; Career Educators of America Committee Member; and has authored numerous writing projects for Milady. This industry experience allows her to see the industry from a variety of viewpoints, which helps in sharing information and ideas with educators all around the world.
